RAIN System Development Program Plan (also called a Project Plan): A "Rough Order-Of-Magnitude (ROM)" Estimate of Development Program Costs. |
The chart summarizes the results
of a project plan which make ROM estimates for the RAIN System
development cost and schedule. Key conclusions:
One should note that the plan called for design and implementation of all subsystems from the ground up. However, significant components of the system already exist (e.g., the control software for the F/A-18 fighter/bomber) that are highly likely to be adaptable for this application and which therefore can reduce the development costs dramatically. More effort will be needed to determine just how much this existing technology can save on the program...... |
